88 Rue Du Rhone
As grandsons of the famous Swiss watchmaker, Raymond Weil, the Bernheim brothers were raised in the Swiss watchmaking tradition and developed a solid expertise while working for the family business. Together, Elie and Pierre Bernheim decided to make exceptional quality time pieces with refined, modern designs at accessible prices so more people can enjoy this unique luxury. They combined their talents and know-how and launched the independent brand of Swiss luxery watches, 88 RUE DU RHONE.
The number 8 symbolizes good fortune, ambition, and power. Doubled, it can be seen as a four- leaf clover, which is a widespread symbol for good luck. When positioned horizontally, the 8 is the sign for infinity, meaning forever. Adapted in countless ways, the 8 cleverly affirms the brand’s unique identity. The word rhone was inpired by the Rhone River, which springs from a source located in the Swiss Alps and eventually empties into Lake Geneva and flows back out at the address, 88 Rue du Rhône. Nothing seems to be able to stop this continuous flow of water, not even time.
The famous Rue du Rhône Street crosses through the very heart of Geneva. The accent above the O in the name of the river disappears in the name of the brand. Mysteriously, the number 88 is missing on this street and at the location where this number should be, a precious view of the Rhone River can be seen flowing out of Lake Geneva, the origins of the Swiss watchmaking industry, initiated five centuries ago: Where Time Begins.
